The Sole Seekers hiking group will be doing a special joint Sunset Saunter with guest hike leader Mark Graczykowski through the Liebetrau Prairie portion of the Table Bluff segment.
Being a saunter, we will enjoy a leisurely pace through this stunning prairie with long ridgetop views of surrounding deep valleys. We will experience the results of this decades long prairie restoration effort with its array of summer plants; compass plant, monarda, rudbeckia, coneflowers, coreopsis, milkweed, liatris and more. Hopefully, weather permitting, we will be able to pause to enjoy the views of a full moon over the prairie.
The Hike:
We will begin our hike from the Table Bluff trailhead at Pine Road. (GPS coordinates 43.15597,-89.66024) and proceed through the prairie looping back to the parking area. This hike will be approximately 1.1 miles.
This is a moderate difficulty hike.
There are no bathroom facilities available.
Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
What to wear/bring:
Layers for variable temperatures and weather conditions
Water, mosquito repellent
Headlamps/flashlight
Hiking poles may be helpful
The Sole Seekers hiking groups goal is to host group hikes along all the Dane County Ice Age Trail segments over the next couple seasons. This hike will count toward the Table Bluff segment, which we will complete in September.
Those that complete the Dane County segments with us will receive a special Sole Seekers sticker, in addition to being eligible for a Dane County Ice Age Trail patch.
