Valley View Segment #2
Details
Welcome to another hike hosted by the Sole Seekers hiking group. Our group was formed last year with the desire to bring people together to enjoy the outdoors and raise awareness and appreciation for the special trail that we have within our own state.
This hike will continue along the Valley View segment, highlighting the Alliance-owned Valley View Preserve. This area is a great example of what can be accomplished through a collaborative effort by private landowners, the Alliance and the Town of Middleton, to restore prairie and oak savanna.
The Hike:
We will begin our hike at the Valley View segment parking area on Moraine Ridge Rd. We will then proceed through Valley View Preserve to Ice Age Lane and return back towards Mound View Rd. and follow to Mid Town Rd. where we will turn around and continue back to the Moraine Ridge Rd. parking lot.
The total hike will be approximately 3.4 miles.
This is a moderate difficulty hike
There are no bathroom facilities available
Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome
What to wear/bring:
Layers for variable temperatures and weather conditions
Water
Hiking poles may be helpful
Our goal is to host group hikes along all the Dane County Ice Age Trail segments over the next couple seasons. Those that complete the segments with us will receive a special Sole Seekers sticker, in addition to being eligible for a Dane County Ice Age Trail patch.
