The Three Levels of Process Mapping + SIPOC + Companion Guide

Details

Greg is going to discuss the three key levels of process mapping he uses to help teams better understand, analyse, and improve their work systems.

The session will cover:
(1) High-level process maps made up of 5–7 key steps that give a clear end-to-end view;
(2) Swimlane diagrams that show roles and responsibilities across the process; and
(3) Detailed task procedures that break each step down into specific actions.

He will also cover the use of SIPOC diagrams as a way to define process boundaries and inputs/outputs, and introduce process companion guides as a practical tool to support consistent execution and training. The aim is to show how these tools work together to create clarity, alignment, and efficiency.

Greg holds a Master of Quality Systems from Massey University, along with professional certifications in Project Management (PRINCE2) and Change Management (Prosci). He has a strong background in Business Analysis, Change Management and Project Management, specialising in helping teams deliver enduring value at speed with a structured, adaptable and results-driven approach. Greg is also the Vice President of Operations for our chapter.
