Misa (Seance), Prayer, And Channeling
Details
PLEASE READ BEFORE DECIDING YOU WANT TO ATTEND. WE WOULDN’T WANT YOU DOING THE DRIVE AND NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.
Hello to everyone in this group. New and old. It’s been a long minute since this group has been able to come together again for our spiritual development gatherings, better known as (and correctly referred to as) “Misas” in Afro-Cuban practice of “Espiritismo” (Spiritism). The three years plus now of pandemic and life, interrupted the flow of these gatherings. After having had the first gathering this past weekend with the God children of our spiritual/religious house, I am now ready and willing to open it back up again to the public.
NOTE: Those of you who use to attend before, please note that I no longer reside in Pomona, CA. We are now in Palmdale, CA.
WHAT IS A SEANCE?
A seance, or as it's called in Cuba, a “Misa", is a spiritual gathering that takes place amongst spiritualist, mediums, clairvoyants and channelers, and whomever is open to attend, to communicate and deliver messages that come through from spiritual energies of light and our Spirit Guides. This is also a great way to communicate with ancestors and spirit guides as well as learn how to channel and develop ones spiritual abilities. Whether you are an experienced medium or a beginner, or whether you are just someone who desires to be in a spiritual setting to better understand what your Spirit Guides might need/want from you, this is the right safe space for you to be in.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A “MISA”?
During this sacred circle, we commence with a series of prayers and hymns/chants that help set the tone and open the spiritual gateway so that our Spirit Guides can deliver important messages that can help us live a better life. Guidance on relevant concerns one might have as well as making us aware of issues to be cautious about can be revealed by Spirit.
At the beginning of the “Misa”, after the prayers are done, everyone present, one by one, will briefly cleanse themselves in front of the spiritual altar (you MAY NOT decline. Everyone present must cleanse themself in front of the altar).
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
This is a sacred and private spiritual space. This means that even though, we are open to embracing newcomers from the public, this is a religious/spiritual house of respect, so proper attired is expected. YOU CAN NOT WEAR BLACK NOR DARK CLOTHING. Unfortunately, if you show up dressed in black or dark clothing, you will not be able to participate and you will be politely asked to leave. White clothes is always most preferred and suitable for the occasion but if not, light colors are fine.
MEN: No tank tops. No shorts (long pants are a must). If you wear hats or baseball caps, it must be removed while participating in the gathering.
WOMEN: No braless shirts. No revealing clothing. No see-through clothing. No mini skirts. Nothing you would not wear in front of your grandmother. There are elders in this home and respect must be shown. You can wear long (non-fitted) skirts or long pants.
WHAT LANGUAGE IS THE “MISA” CONDUCTED IN?
The prayers and chants at the beginning of the misa are always done in Spanish. But during the misa, if you only speak English, any messages that come through for you, will be delivered in English. Also, you won’t feel left out for the fact is that 90% of attendees are English speaking.
HOW LONG DOES THE “MISA” LAST?
Misas are usually anywhere between two to three hours.
CAN I LEAVE BEFORE THE “MISA” ENDS?
It is never advised that you leave before the spiritual gateway (portal) has been officially closed by way of the ending prayer and chants/hyms. Needless to say, if a personal emergency arises for you, then of course, you have no choice but to cleanse yourself at the altar and leave. But, it is advised that if you already know you won’t be able to stay for the duration of the “Misa”, then please don’t come.
IS THERE A FEE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE “MISA”?
This might change in the future, but as of yet, you can attend on a donation of your choice. There are always expenses involved in putting together these spiritual gatherings, so it’s only fair that a donation is given. There will be a jar available for you to drop your donation in.
COVID 19 RESTRICTIONS: At time of event, you must present a Negative Covid-19 test result. Unfortunately, if you forget this, you will not be allowed to participate and you will respectfully be asked to leave.
OTHER INFO: There will always be refreshments, snacks and other foods available for after the “Misa” ends.
If you have any other questions and/or concerns not addressed here, feel free to contact the host.
