Street Art Walking Tour: North Beach & Chinatown

Many people visiting or living in San Francisco have seen the street art in Mission and the murals in North Beach/Chinatown. While both districts are filled with artwork that define San Francisco's street art movement, there are a couple distinctions that make each area unique.

The Mission District is full of more unofficial and underground work that focus on political allusions and references in order to inform the public of current social problems. On the other hand, North Beach and Chinatown are filled with high end commissioned mural work that are of the traditional and aerosol art styles. These works are more nostalgic and swanky (like nightlife art).
