What we’re about
This meetup is for all who enjoy the indie genre of music and other genres that influence this diverse category of music! Check out our past and current events to get an idea of what kind of music we listen to!
Would you like someone to go with to see a band that you love but your friends don't? Or do you already have at least one friend to go to a show with but wouldn't mind meeting others who share your taste in music? No problem!
All you need to do is e-mail one of us with the show you want to go to, and we will make you an Assistant Organizer for that show! The more active Assistant Organizers we have, the more diverse and interesting our list of hosted shows will be! We also welcome gigs of local indie bands if they've got catchy tunes!
We mostly go to venues with general admission, so that we can meet up and hang out before and/or during the show. Note: on rare occasions, some shows will be" no-host meetups" and some will be "announcement only", unless someone wants to step in and host it.
There are also occasional meet-and-greets or indie club nights where we can meet up and talk about bands and music without attending an official concert.
If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to e-mail us!
Lastly, since you're here and reading this, please fill out this music poll, just for kicks and to see what others on listen to: https://www.meetup.com/indiemusic-130/polls/
Cheers,
Lisa, Organizer
Jennifer, Co-Organizer
P.S. Many thanks to the founder of this group, Rolando Marin

The Prodigy
The Novo, 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, USThe Prodigy makes their rare appearance in L.A. Unfortunately, the singer Keith Flint is no longer with us, but they still get rave reviews for their live shows. We are going to the Thursday night show.
As of 11/25/25, there are some tickets left on March 13th and only $140 VIP tickets left for March 14th. I paid $70 for my general admission ticket on the first day of the sale.
The Prodigy are an English electronic music band formed in Braintree in 1990 by producer, keyboardist, and songwriter Liam Howlett. At their critical and commercial peak, the band also featured MC and vocalist Maxim, dancer and occasional live keyboardist Leeroy Thornhill, and dancer and vocalist Keith Flint. AllMusic described The Prodigy as "the premiere dance act for the alternative masses" and "the Godfathers of Rave".[1] The band describe their style as electronic punk.[2][3]
The band emerged during the underground rave scene and achieved early success in 1991 with their debut singles "Charly" and "Everybody in the Place", which reached the UK top five. After their debut album Experience (1992), the band moved from their rave roots and incorporated techno, breakbeat, and rock influences on their follow-up, the critically acclaimed Music for the Jilted Generation (1994). They reached their commercial and critical peak with their third studio album The Fat of the Land (1997), which went to No. 1 in 16 countries, including the UK and the US, and spawned the UK number one singles "Firestarter" and "Breathe" in 1996. The third single, "Smack My Bitch Up", was a UK top ten hit and generated considerable controversy over its suggestive lyrics and music video. Thornhill left the band in 2000 and Flint died in 2019; Howlett and Maxim are the only two original members.
The Prodigy are one of the most successful electronic groups of all time, selling an estimated 25 million records worldwide[4] including over 4.7 million albums in the UK. They have scored seven consecutive UK number one albums. The band have won many awards during their career, including two Brit Awards for Best British Dance Act, three MTV Video Music Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards, and two Grammy Award nominations.[5][6]12 attendees
Ladytron
The Novo, 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, USTickets are on sale at AXS for $61, general admission pit. I got those tickets. They are around $5 cheaper in the standing room area behind the pit and more expensive if you get designated seats in the mezzanine. The presale code is "Paradises".
Ladytron are a British electronic band formed in Liverpool in 1999. The group consists of Helen Marnie (lead vocals, synthesizers), Mira Aroyo (vocals, synthesizers), and Daniel Hunt (synthesizers, guitar, vocals).[1][2] Reuben Wu (synthesizers) was a member from 1999 until 2023.[3] They have released seven studio albums to date: 604 (2001), Light & Magic (2002), Witching Hour (2005), Velocifero (2008), Gravity the Seducer (2011), Ladytron (2019) and Time's Arrow (2023). An eighth, Paradises, is slated for release in 2026. They also issued the live album Live at London Astoria 16.07.08 in 2009, and the compilation album Best of 00–10 in 2011. They have produced remixes for a diverse list of artists, such as Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan, Erasure, Goldfrapp, Apoptygma Berzerk, Placebo, Blondie, Gang of Four, Christina Aguilera, Nine Inch Nails, Bloc Party, Kings of Convenience and Soulwax.
The band's name was taken from the song "Ladytron" by Roxy Music.[4] Former Roxy Music member Brian Eno said in 2009, "Ladytron are, for me, the best of English pop music. They're the kind of band that really only appears in England, with this funny mixture of eccentric art-school dicking around and dressing up, with a full awareness of what's happening everywhere musically, which is kind of knitted together and woven into something quite new."[5] Ladytron described their sound as "electronic pop",[6] while music journalists have also described their sound as synth-pop, electronic rock, post-punk, and new wave, among other genres. Some of the group's songs contain lyrics written by Aroyo in her native Bulgarian.9 attendees
Chapterhouse
Hollywood Palladium, 6215 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, ca, USThe last time Chapterhouse played was the first time I attended an L.A. Indie Music Meet-up Event! It was such a fun night. They played really well, and we also met the band (see the pic attached). That was way back in 2010 at The Troubadour. I'll also attach some pics from that show in our photo album. It seemed like yesterday, but 15 years have gone by. Guess what? Chapterhouse is coming back on May 29th and May 30th at The Hollywood Palladium! 16 years later and they'll be playing at a much larger venue. Classic '90s shoegaze only gets more popular with time!
Here's a link to their first album "Whirlpool".
Get your tickets at Ticketmaster. A ticket is around $76 each.
The presale code is "slide26".
Chapterhouse were a British shoegaze band from Reading, Berkshire, England.[3] Formed in 1987 by Andrew Sherriff, Stephen Patman and Simon Rowe, the band began performing alongside Spacemen 3.[3][4] They released two albums: Whirlpool (1991) and Blood Music (1993). The group temporarily reformed in 2008 after being asked to join Ulrich Schnauss onstage to perform his cover version of their song "Love Forever" at the Truck Festival in Oxfordshire.[5] The band finished the brief reunion with two gigs in London (2009–2010) and tours in North America and Japan in 2010.[6]5 attendees
