Let's meet up to talk movies in a restaurant.
Our first round of discussion will be "Last Movie Seen." That will be a roundtable discussion where we all share about a movie that we have seen recently, in a theater or at home. Please tell us a short plot description (no spoilers) and your feelings about the film. Please add to the discussion when other members talk about their movies.
Our second round of discussion will center on our Movie of the Month, Hundreds of Beavers. Beavers is a very silly film made on a low budget that has been a favorite of some of our Film Buffs and critics. We will discuss what it has to show about the current state of movie comedies. Also, we will talk about how it borrows from great comedies of the past.
Hundreds of Beavers is streaming on Kanopy, as are all of our MOTM this year. Kanopy is a free streaming service with your library card. Beavers is also streaming on Prime and Hoopla.

Join us for our monthly movie discussion on Zoom! First up will be our regular icebreaker round where we go “around the room” and invite everyone to talk about a movie you’ve watched recently. Give us a short summary, how you saw it and a recommendation or a warning.

In the second hour we'll talk about David Lynch. Lynch's passing last year sparked many tributes and retrospectives. Critics have hailed him as one of the great directors of world cinema. Is that reputation deserved or will it fade over time? What are his best films? How did he influence other filmmakers? Join us as we discuss these questions and more.

For May the movie of the month will be Elephant Man.

Info for Zoom Meetups: Indy Film Buffs operates on Eastern time. The Zoom link will be added to the Meetup event shortly before start time. If you're on the "Going" list but can't see the Zoom link at 7, please comment or message me (Helen) via direct Meetup message and I'll reply with the link. As a best practice to avoid Zoom bombing, attendees who JOIN the meeting with camera off will be removed from the Zoom meeting. I stop monitoring the waiting room about 7:15 (you can message me if you know you'll be running late).

Indy Film Buffs is a long-established movie club in Indianapolis. Movie lovers from anywhere in the country are welcome to join our Zoom discussions. If you live in Indy, we invite you to join us at some of our in-person events as well.

Omaha is a film directed by Cole Webley from a screenplay by Robert Machoian. The film stars John Magaro as a father who takes his two children on a cross-country trip after a family tragedy. It is produced by Preston Lee. Here's the trailer:

Tickets are $13.00 per person. The 7 PM time is a guess and the actual time will be updated when that information becomes available. We'll gather near the concession stand before the film. Hope to see you there!

Let's talk movies at Broad Ripple Park.
After introductions, our first movie topic will be "Last Movie Seen." We will all talk about movies that we have seen recently. Come prepared to share about the plot, no spoilers, and your feelings about the movie. Others will join in if they have seen your movie. It is a great way to build up a movie watch list.
Our second topic will be "Geezer Cinema." There has been a spot in theaters recently for movies for and about older people. We will discuss our favorites in this genre and what makes a good one. Try to watch a film new to you from this film type and let it inform our discussion.
We will gather at the Picnic Knoll just to the right of the playground on the nothern edge of the south parking lot. In the case of light rain, we will gather in a nearby picnic shelter. Check the comments for updates if it looks like rain .
