Join us for our monthly movie discussion on Zoom! First up will be our regular icebreaker round where we go “around the room” and invite everyone to talk about a movie you’ve watched recently. Give us a short summary, how you saw it and a recommendation or a warning.
At 8 o'clock we'll pivot to a group discussion based on the theme for 2024, the once-a-decade Sight and Sound Greatest Films of All Time poll. The movie of the month for June is Rashomon (1950). Directed by Akira Kurosawa, Rashomon was hugely influential in introducing Japanese cinema to international audiences. While it didn't originate the storytelling device of showing the same event from different perspectives, it set the benchmark. It's also the origin of the term "the Rashomon effect," which is used in psychology and sociology in addition to the arts. And, it's a very entertaining movie!

Info for Zoom Meetups: Indy Film Buffs operates on Eastern time. The Zoom link will be added to the Meetup event shortly before start time. If you RSVP'd but don't see the Zoom link by 7, please message me (Helen) via direct Meetup message and I'll reply with the link.
