What we're about

This is a place to meet with fellow vegans and vegetarians to learn more about veganism or just to socialize. Everyone is welcome to join and you don't have to be vegan, just open to trying vegan food and meeting new friends, have fun discussions and great food. The group is great for those who are just starting out and have lots of questions about what foods they can eat and our members are always eager to answer!

In addition to meeting at restaurants, we also hold pitch-ins, movie viewings, host speakers, and host animal rights events. Although our group contains a diverse group of vegans, vegetarians and omnivores, all of our meetups are 100% vegan (if you attend meetups, please be sure that you and your guests do not order or consume animal products). If you are new to this, I promise you are going to LOVE the food and company!

Upcoming events (5+)

Dinner at Apna Kitchen, 4225 Lafayette Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46254

Apna Kitchen, formerly Spice Nation, is offering us a totally vegan buffet including vegan tea, dosas, fruit, dessert and much more. The owner is excited to offer this buffet geared to our community. The food was a little spicy in the beginning, but I spoke with the chef and it will now be toned down for us. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns I can pass along because the owner and chef are really trying to please us. The owner said that we can order off the menu anything that you feel is missing and they will bring that dish to the table. You can also let me know prior to the Meetup what dishes you would like on the buffet and I will pass the info onto him so he will include them. Price is now $10.99.

Vegan WFPB food sampling and pitch-in

Indianapolis Public Library - Lawrence Branch

Join us for another whole-food, plant-based (WFPB) pitch-in on Sunday, March 24! A WFPB diet promotes good health. Please bring a dish for the pitch-in that is free from all animal products (100% vegan) and contains no oil. Some salt and sweetener is fine. Please also bring a list of the ingredients used in your dish. Because this Meetup is 100% vegan, all dishes should contain NO animals or animal products (no honey, no dairy, no eggs, no gelatin, no animals, no animal byproducts). For recipe ideas, check out thevegan8.com, straightupfood.com, or happyherbivore.com. Are you interested in attending, but aren't sure what to bring to a WFPB, no-oil Meetup? Just bring yourself and we will share food and ideas with you! But don't forget to RSVP that you are going, so we know how many people to expect. Want more information on a WFPB diet? Watch Forks Over Knives (available on Netflix) and PlantPure Nation (now available on YouTube). Also check out the work of Dr. Michael Greger, M.D. (NutritionFacts.org), Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, M.D. (Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease), Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D. (The China Study), Dr. John McDougall, M.D. (DrMcDougall.com and several books), and Dr. Neal Barnard, M.D. (PCRM.org and many books). See you in March! Springtime!
