1. The Challenges and Possibilities for Alibaba Cluster Management System

阿里巴巴集群管理系统的机会和挑战

Sigma cluster management is the core infrastructure of Alibaba that manages most online services. Through our in-house developed PouchContainer technology, Sigma forms the basis for the goal of managing the computers of Alibaba data centers as one computer. In this talk, we will introduce the goal and positioning of Alibaba cluster management system and business scenarios. We will also share the problems we have solved, the insights of our architecture design, as well as the challenges and opportunities we face and our future plans for the Alibaba cluster management.

2. Reliably Extending Kubernetes

CRD (custom resource definition) is widely used to extend the behavior of kubernetes. It is important that the custom resources are managed reliably during any failures of crd controller such that a consistent state is maintained across failures. This talk will share the experiences we've gained: how to make leader election, design principle of namespaced CRD vs. clustered CRD, how to handle unexpected event from apiserver, etc.

3. 阿里集群的大脑: sigma-scheduler

sigma-scheduler 是阿里巴巴集团内部的集群管理系统 Sigma 的调度器。它有着丰富的调度策略，能够理解复杂的拓扑结构，以及专门为内部业务场景深度优化。截至今日，sigma-scheduler 提供了一系列的功能以支撑阿里巴巴的业务需求——这包括细粒度资源划分、应用服务分层、拓扑规则限制 (taints, anti-affinity, node-selector)、locality 感知、以及预防应用间干扰等。sigma-scheduler 调度结果的好坏，直接影响了集群的性能和利用率。与时俱进，升级优化调度器，是我们工作的核心目标。

本次演讲我们将阐述 sigma-scheduler 的设计理念以及架构细节，并结合过去经验去探讨如何处理大规模场景。

4. Kubernetes容器运行时接口以及与containerd的集成

目前，Docker仍是在Kubernetes生产环境中最常使用容器运行时，但是由Docker衍生出的更轻量的containerd可能是一个更好的选择。Kubernetes容器运行时接口(CRI)的设计使Kubernetes可以支持不同的容器运行时。本次演讲会介绍CRI的过去现在以及未来发展，并介绍containerd与CRI的集成工作的最新进展。
