Been locked up in your bedroom or stuck in your hot dirty garage for too long and keen on playing with other musicians on stage and in a venue with a real audience? You've come to the right place. This Meetup group is an initiative by The Inner West Institute of Music and as a collective to play and/or sing some great songs. So dust off your instruments, replace your rusty strings, smooth that voice out, crack those fingers and get back into it by playing some of the top hits with others by joining this group.
Who we are?
We are a bunch of passionate music lovers and gigging tragics who appreciate the music of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's pop and rock era. We are intermediate level to experienced amateur musician's bringing back some awesome tunes by getting you playing and performing in a real band setting. Our core belief is "music is for everyone" We want to engage the music community and those who want an opportunity to get back into playing and singing. This is an 18 years+ adults only group.

Our mission?
Get you out of your bedrooms, shower cubicles and off your electronic devices and get you singing and playing in a relaxed social setting with like minded adults. Our jamming sessions are are structured so we don't waste time standing around trying to work songs out and trying to figure out who knows what words, chord or riff to sing and play. No No No No No No No No! Songs are listed on our events page in advance and we are ready and pre-rehearsed as individuals in our own time to play the song list as a band. The song book has all the links available to the actual songs.
Which level of experience does this group suit?
This group is not for beginners or those at early stages of learning how to play and sing. We want those who can play their instrument of choice and be ready and capable of playing songs live and within a band. Yes, that a next level skill that must be developed over time. What can I expect?
Expect to be playing your old time favourite songs in no time. We will have a song list that is nominated on each event page which you can learn your part using Youtube, Spotify, audio recordings, sheet music/tabs etc. You can also bring chord charts, tabs, music scores with you to read from if you haven't learned the songs by memory, though the general idea is to be song playing ready.

Gear?
We supply most of the musical gear to play on and usually there is a P.A. system supplied. You can also bring your own gear (mics,amps,drum hardware,keys) including anyhting musical instrument you think will fit in with what we are playing. Violins,brass,cajuns,harmonica's,tamborines,congo's etc are welcomed.
How much does it cost?
$20.00 per player. This covers gear hire, insurance, venue hire, equipment repairs we provide. Please respect use of equipment and the venue we play at.
IMPORTANT NOTICE ( 3 x strike rule): We respect our time and players efforts to practice and learn the songs and given there is limited capacity if you RSVP for a jam and can't show up then decline your RSVP at least 48 hours prior for someone else to join in. If you RSVP and don't show up without an unexplained reason on 3 x occasions in a row you will be removed permanently from this group. As well if you disrespect your fellow jammers or break rules of conduct of the group and the venue etiquette you will be removed from this group.
Secondly this community may have different degree's of musical skill level which may not match yours however each member shows full respect to each other and their abilities and in no way will this community tolerate any disrespect from any member to another. If they do you will be removed from the community without further notices.
PUBLIC HEALTH WARNING:
Due to ongoing concerns with Covid case numbers in greater Sydney and the NSW Government announcements on public and business venue group gatherings in case that we feel that it is too risky to run the jamming session it may be cancelled at short notice.
If you are experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms or been tested positive to Covid 19, please do not attend the meet up event. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested immediately and self-isolate until you get a negative result. Stay home, isolate and get well.
We suggest you bump into the venue least 15 minutes prior to commencement time to find parking, load any gear into the venue and set up to play on time.
This is a drug and alcoholism free meet up and safe place. Breach of code of conduct, including disrespecting fellow jammers and showing up intoxicated will mean your immediate suspension from the group. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to discuss.
