The discussion topic for August 17, 2023:

The role of radio in our times
In our times of rapid technological advancements, the role and relevance of radio programming can be debated.

Some argue that digital platforms (podcasts, streaming services) have lowered the importance of traditional radio. Personalized playlists and tailored/on-demand content might be a more appealing and user-friendly alternative.

Others, however, maintain that radio continues to thrive, especially in rural areas and emerging markets where internet access may be limited. It might also appeal to a certain demographic which prefers preselected content, not having to bear the mental load of choosing what to listen to.
Furthermore, radio's role in emergency broadcasting and community might remain unchallenged - or not, with the rise of mobile and SMS broadcasting.

Is radio programming and listening to radio increasing or decreasing in relevance in our times? Which are the reasons for how you answer to this question?
