Advanced scene work for the improviser

• Description:

In this session we will take a closer look at what makes a scene a scene. The first half hour will focus on the theory of a scene, discussing the individual elements of what needs to occur in every scene to make it work. We will look at real world examples from movies to get a reference, then we will dive into how to adapt this in an improvisational way.
A good understanding of scene structure will guide improvisers as they navigate building it from scratch, giving them signposts to shoot for along the way.
The remaining time is practical, giving you as much stage-time as possible, with focused side-coaching to aid you in both building the scene, as well as identifying sticking-points that you can work on in your continued improv journey.

• Level:

Familiarity with the basics will help in this workshop, as we build upon them to move into efficient, emotional storytelling that will help in everything from short-form to long-form improv, giving you concrete tools you can use in any scenario.
Taking notes is recommended.
