Internationals and expats in Leuven (by International House)

International House Leuven organizes a coffee morning for those of you who like to chat and meet some friendly (new) faces. It's also a good place to ask questions, get answers and find out about what’s happening in Leuven. Our coffee morning is what you make it. So pop in and out whenever you like, see who is there, and say hi!
We meet every two weeks on Friday morning, usually at the International House Leuven itself although we tour coffee houses occasionally as well. More on that below.
Who's "we"? Well it varies a bit, but our regular hosts are the IHL staff members Natalie and/or Anna or one of our volunteers, Evelyne. Generally we're anything between 5 to 20 participants, a nice mix of regulars and new folks.

### What to expect

• the coffee morning goes from 10:30 until noon. Feel free to pop in and out at any point, no need to stay the entire time if that doesn't suit your own timing
• we offer coffee, tea and water. You’re very welcome to bring your own drink as well, as our coffee machine is a barista’s nightmare :-)
• we usually meet at the International House Leuven**,** we notify participants of any changes MeetUp and via the WhatsApp group....
• ... feel free to join the whatsapp group (link sent to participants before the event) so you can keep up to date with venue changes and other last minute things.
• walk-ins are very welcome too!

Agenda: 20 minutes of focused work, followed by a 5-10 minute chat break (tracked by a visual timer), repeat

About the volunteer:
Kevin is a self-proclaimed productivity nerd on a mission to work smarter, not harder, while fostering an inclusive community that kicks loneliness to the curb! He knows firsthand how easy it is to turn into a potato and binge-watch cat videos instead of getting things done. That’s why he’s super excited to roll up his sleeves, make real progress on projects, and build connections and friendships along the way—because who says productivity can’t be fun? Having lived in Leuven for five years, he’s ready to share ideas, inspire others, and create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive together. Let’s turn those “meh” moments into “heck yeah!” achievements!

Join us at IHL for a joyful board game evening, accessible to all!

Whether you've never touched a board game in your life or you're a complex Euro aficionado, you'll definitely find like-minded people to share your evening with. Depending on the mood and the attendees, you might find yourself in a big group trying to cobble together word meanings from obscure clues in Codenames, engaging in an intense duel in 7 Wonders: Duel, struggling to build the perfect deck in Dominion, or diving into the mechanics of Brass: Birmingham for the first time.

We’ll provide a variety of games from our collection to ensure everyone has something to play, but don’t hesitate to bring your own games if you're ready to teach them!

If you’re new to Leuven, board games are a great way to meet new people, share enjoyable moments, and engage in a fulfilling activity. Don’t be afraid to register!

Morgan seriously got into board games in 2020, lacking a big group, he started to build his own collection out of mostly two player games. He enjoys complex euro games with deep mechanics, fun social games and a lot in between!

Thomas has been living in Leuven for four years and has frequently attended events organized by IHL. After spending this time as a participant, he finally decided to start organizing events centered around his hobbies, particularly board games. A passionate enthusiast, Thomas enjoys all types of board games and often hosts gatherings at his home.

Pez, originally from the UK, is a digital nomad who settled in Leuven after several years of full time travel. He’s been here since 2020, and loves hosting events and activities for friends, family and people in town. At the weekend you’re likely to find him playing board games, hosting a gathering of friends, planning for his non-profit camping festival, or off exploring somewhere
