Internationals and expats in Leuven (by International House)

International House Leuven organizes a coffee morning for those of you who like to chat and meet some friendly (new) faces. It's also a good place to ask questions, get answers and find out about what’s happening in Leuven. Our coffee morning is what you make it. So pop in and out whenever you like, see who is there, and say hi!

We meet every two weeks on Friday morning, usually at the International House Leuven itself although we tour coffee houses occasionally as well. More on that below.

Who's "we"? Well it varies a bit, but our regular hosts the IH staff members Natalie and/or Anna. Generally we're anything between 5 to 20 participants, a nice mix of regulars and new folks. And we have room for more!

The practicalities:

• the coffee morning goes from 10:30 until noon. Feel free to pop in and out at any point, no need to stay the entire time if that doesn't suit your own timing
• we offer coffee, tea and water. You’re very welcome to bring your own drink as well as our coffee machine is a barista’s nightmare :-)
• we usually meet at the International House Leuven. If we do decide to go someplace else, we notify participants via Facebook, MeetUp and via the WhatsApp group....
• ... feel free to join the whatsapp group (https://chat.whatsapp.com/BB0LPVG9ZvUGkNcYwSzluS) so you can keep up to date with venue changes and other last minute things.
• walk-ins are very welcome too!

## What should you bring to the potluck?

• Yourself! (be aware that there are steps to get in the building)
• A dish to share! Do you have a favorite dish or snack from your home country? Bring a few servings to share! (We have a refrigerator, small freezer, microwave and sink to wash dishes inside if needed. Please note that there is not a full kitchen.)
• a plate and cutlery for you to try all the other dishes

## What will the IHL provide?

- We provide the space for wonderful conversations and lots of laughs
- We will have soft drinks, beer and wine at the honesty bar. (all IHL drinks are 2€ - card or exact cash accepted)
Everyone is welcome to join, whether you are international or not! We look forward to seeing you again or meeting you for the first time at the IHL!

What to expect
An evening for neurodiverse adults (18+) to come together, share experiences, and make new friends.

The evening will be semi-structured, running from 7pm to 9pm.

Once everyone has arrived we will do a quick round of introductions followed by an icebreaker. People will each get a conversation card with a thought-provoking question to ask someone else in the room, including questions related and unrelated to their neurodivergent experience. They will mill around the room to talk with others in small groups.

Once they've asked their questions they will exchange cards and with their new questions they will go and find someone else to talk to. After a short break for a drink, we will sit in a circle to discuss certain topics related to being neurodivergent; such as "How did your diagnosis change things in your life?", "What do you like most/least about being neurodivergent?", "What is missing in your life right now?".

This is a new event, so we will wrap up by sharing feedback on the event and making plans for the next one. If we still have time, people are free to play a board game as we can stay in the room until 21:30.

For Who?
Neurodiverse adults (18+)
A formal diagnosis is not necessary. This event is open to anyone who can relate to the difficulties and experiences of being neurodivergent.
