Book & Movie: Klara and the Sun - Nov 8, 2026

Book & Movie
Welcome to an Interrobang Book & Movie meeting! For this event, we will go see Klara and the Sun, directed by Taika Waititi, then discuss how the book and movie compare.

Where/When
Please note that the time and location listed here are tentative! We will try to see the film at the AMC Mercado in Santa Clara, and try to get tickets for the showing closest to 3pm. Time and location may change based on where the movie is showing!

RSVPs & Tickets
Please ONLY RSVP if you are committed to attending the meeting. We will buy a block of 12 tickets when they go on sale so our group can sit together. Please bring cash (or send $ via our Ko-fi) to cover your ticket. If we run out of space, Heather will be in touch via DM.

Description of the Book
You don't need to finish reading the whole book to come to the meeting! However, our conversation will be better if more people have read the book.

Here is the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. She remains hopeful that a customer will soon choose her, but when the possibility emerges that her circumstances may change forever, Klara is warned not to invest too much in the promises of humans.

A thrilling feat of world-building and a novel of exquisite tenderness and impeccable restraint, Klara and the Sun is a magnificent achievement, one that offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator to explore the fundamental question: what does it mean to love?
