Intro To Sailing & Cruising - Sunset Sails

Ever wanted to experience sailing but never knew where to start? Or maybe you've sailed before and just miss being out on the water? This group is for adventurous people ages 20 to 40 who want to learn, meet like minded friends, and spend more time enjoying South Florida from a different perspective.

I'm Rick, a professional marine surveyor, 200T captain, and lifelong sailor who lives aboard my sailboat in West Palm Beach. My goal is to make sailing approachable, fun, and welcoming. Whether you've never stepped on a sailboat or you're looking to get back into the sailing community, you're welcome here.

We'll typically meet once a week for afternoon sails, sunset cruises, or relaxed day trips aboard my sailboat with small groups of around seven to eight people. Weather dependent. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing, ask questions about boats, cruising, and living aboard, or simply sit back, relax, and enjoy being on the water. This may also include anchoring, swimming, snorkeling, jumping off the boat, etc.

This group is just as much about the people as it is about sailing. It's a chance to meet others who are curious about the sailing lifestyle, travel, adventure, and life on the water. If you've ever dreamed about sailing, living on a boat, or exploring new places under sail, you'll find plenty of people here who share that passion.

As the community grows, I'd love to organize longer adventures, including weekend cruises and eventually group trips to the Bahamas.
