What we’re about
Intrepid Auckland Walking Adventures is for active people who want to participate in walks and bush hikes around the Auckland area as well as other activities from time to time. We currently have walks available on a Wednesday evening & Saturday morning most weeks. These will be in different areas of Auckland, depending on who is leading the walk. We like to keep our groups small (20 -25 people) as this is a better experience for everyone.
Please feel free to suggest something you'd like to do in your part of town and co-lead an activity or start a regular weekday walk in your area.
We are looking forward to meeting you on our walks!
Regards
The Intrepid Leadership Team.

Please read all the information
Marie and I have managed to get 12 tickets and these will be offered to regular walkers first. (If you are down as attending but can't attend please change your RSVP.) Tickets are free and can be booked using the link below. This walk will be an opportunity so more of Lissy and Rudi's work. Those who went on the Pink Ribbon Walk got to see some much smaller pieces. (If you can't make this walk it is at The Civic from 5-27 July.)
Lissy and Rudi are bringing Wharenui Harikoa, the stunning large-scale crocheted wharenui (Māori meeting house) inspired by the joy, connection, and healing found in te ao Māori will grace Tāmaki Makaurau’s treasured theatre stage The Civic. Only 30 people can visit at a time and you will need to book a free ticket (See link below) for quicker access. We may need to split into two groups if it is busy.
This immersive experience weaves together tukutuku panels, handcrafted pou, a sensory touch wall, and a mesmerising light and soundscape. Drawn from taonga tuku iho (ancestral treasures passed down), it invites you to take off your shoes, slow down, and enter a space for dreaming.
At its heart, Wharenui Harikoa is a refracting prism of tūpuna-inspired light - a vessel of aroha travelling across the world to ignite joy, one loop at a time.
Inspired by the stories of Matariki and Te Whānau Mārama (the celestial family), this is the first time the Wharenui will stand while Matariki is visible in the night sky - a powerful moment to honour the past, celebrate the present, and dream boldly for the future.

The walk will also include some of the other Matariki displays around the city. It will be more of an Art walk and be about 8-9kms.
Bring your normal pack with snacks, lunch, water and rain gear. You will need to take your shoes off and I imagine leave your pack in an entrance area.
Mostly on foot paths. There are no toilets at the start of the walk, but we will walk past some.
Group members have indicated that they like to walk in a smaller group with a preferred maximum of 25. Therefore, the limit on our walks will remain at 25. Thank you for your understanding :-)
To help cover the cost of running a walking group on meetup and to buy safety equipment we ask that you bring a gold coin. (We are introducing this as there is some safety equipment we would like to buy such as a PLB for each leader. Thank you for your support.)
Our Intrepid bank account is 06-0996-0609501-04 if you want to transfer money for the gold coin donation. (Use your meetup name as a reference.)
Please refrain from attending if you are not feeling well.
