Shakespear Regional Park walk

Details

Let's make the most of this glorious winter weather with a walk in nature.

Shakespear Regional park combines tracks withs some bush, spectacular views, a waterfall and beaches on the tip of the Whangaparoa peninsula.
The regional park is within an open sanctuary with a pest-proof fence.

We will park in the Waterfall Gulley Car park (just before you get to the Army restricted area) - call in at Army bay car park for the toilets as these will be the last toilets until the lunch stop.

The tracks are fairly well maintained however there are likely to be a couple of muddy parts and we will probably end up on a couple of beaches so up to you whether you wish to wear sneakers or hiking boots/shoes. I will be wearing hiking shoes due to the possible muddy parts.
Recommend bringing hiking poles if you normally use them.

The tracks are quite exposed therefore it's likely to be cold and sunny so dress appropriately.

There are steep sections and quite a bit of up and down which will reward you with amazing views back to the city and out to the islands.

Bring snacks, lunch and plenty of water.
A change of shoes and/or plastic bags especially if car pooling.

Group members have indicated that they like to walk in a smaller group with a preferred maximum of 25. Therefore the limit on our walks will remain at 25. Thank you for your understanding :-)

***Please note we request a gold coin donation for participation in order to cover some of the costs incurred by the leaders for their organisation. Items such as outdoor magazine subscriptions, safety equipment (eg PLB) and the website costs etc***

Please refrain from attending if you are not feeling well.

We will leave on time in fairness to the whole group.
