What we’re about
INTROVERTS UNITED: A Virtual-to-Real-Life Community in Fort Collins. Are you an introvert looking to make friends and build community with deeper, more authentic connections?
Join INTROVERTS UNITED for engaging on-line discussions, followed by live meetups right here in Fort Collins, Colorado. Designed for introverts (like me!) who want to cultivate deeper friendships and attend social events together.
That’s right…before meeting in person, we’ll first break the ice with structured activities and discussions online…think:
- Platonic speed “dating”
- Listening Circles
- Author & Book Studies
- Guided Autobiography Writing
- Guest Speakers: Authors, Artists, Musicians
- Supported Improv Storytelling
- Authentic Relating Games
- Lectio Divina poetry readings
- Guided Meditation & Breathwork
- Art Classes & Music Appreciation
- GTKY (Getting to Know You) Games & Activities
- "Blind" GTKY (Zoom talks with cameras off; then meet in person)
- Intergenerational Conversations (guided talks across the years)
- Braver Angels: cross-partisan conversations
- Human Library Project (guest speakers; Q&A on social prejudices)
The sky is the limit. Have a passion to share? Reach out and we'll co-create something to offer the community. The more facilitators we enroll, the more events we can host.
After one or more on-line events in a series, we’ll meet in person…imagine:
- Creative workshops: open mic nights, poetry slams, art projects
- Game nights that focus on fun and connection
- Mindfulness and movement sessions: yoga, qigong, or dance
- Casual coffee shop hangouts in cozy local spots
- Book talks around mindfulness, creativity, and personal growth
- Volunteer or community service days to give back together
- Themed dinners celebrating different cultures or ideas
- Skill shares where members teach hobbies, crafts, or skills
- Film screenings followed by group conversations
- Nature hikes or meditation walks
- Pop-up art exhibits or informal performances showcasing our talents
- Attend other Meetups together (after a GTKY and a preview online)
- Day trips to Denver or the Rockies
- Weekend retreats to connect on any theme
Together, we'll practice and offer each other: mindful presence and compassionate communication (nonjudgemental acceptance, empathetic listening, and curious questioning), turn taking, supportive feedback (interrupting or unsolicited advice discouraged), appreciation & gratitude, and confidentiality. Let's bring out the best in ourselves and each other.
Your Ideas Welcome! This group is a co-creative space — if you have ideas for events or want to co-lead an activity, please share. Your unique contributions help make our community vibrant, welcoming, and meaningful for everyone. Let’s build this together!
