Bike the Bay: Cross the Coronado Bridge (25 miles)

Details
San Diego's finest annual cycling event across the Coronado Bridge and around the bay! Ride from the comfort of your own saddle, at your own pace, on your own time. Proceeds from the Bike the Bay ride will benefit the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to making bicycling better in San Diego.
Ride the bridge, Bike the Bay for the 18th annual ride on Sunday, August 24, 2025! Cruise around San Diego Bay and enjoy your only opportunity to ride across the San Diego Coronado Bay Bridge. This non-competitive community bike ride is for riders of all abilities and will take you on a scenic, and primarily flat ride, around the San Diego Bay via the Bayshore Bikeway. Along the way, riders will travel through the surrounding cities of Coronado, Imperial Beach, Chula Vista, and National City before finishing back at the start/finish line at Embarcadero Marina Park in downtown San Diego.
Not only will the scenic 25-mile route travel through all five of these very diverse communities but it will also allow riders their only opportunity of the year to ride over the beautiful Coronado Bay Bridge. All riders will return to San Diego for a post-ride festival with food, beverages, beer garden, and entertainment.
The Bike the Bay ride is a fun and non-competitive ride for cyclists of all abilities. We encourage the “go slow and say hello” model. The safety of all riders is our highest priority.
Cost: Registration through the event page is $81.13, but let's not register until we know we have a group and we are just a few weeks out from the event.
Getting There: It is possible to get to the event on time if you leave Orange County very early in the morning. We could also look into getting a VRBO or several hotel rooms.
Safety First:
Helmets are mandatory for all rides.
We will be observing standard bicycle safety rules, and whenever there are new riders, the host will give a short safety speech before we ride.
Tail lights are highly recommended when we are traveling on surface roads. We do this only for short segments on wide bike lanes.
Water bottles are important for hydration. You should rehydrate at least every 20 minutes.
Silver Spokes is a cycling group specifically designed for senior women who want to stay active on their bikes and socialize, while not aiming to go fast or long. Road bikes and e-bikes are welcome.
Silver Spokes was established in May, 2024 and is growing quickly.
