What we’re about

The Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) has a long history of commitment to water education and recognizes the significant impact lifelong learning can have on a community.

Established in 1961 as a California Water District under the provisions of the state of California Water Code, IRWD is an independent special district serving Central Orange County, California. IRWD provides high-quality drinking water, reliable wastewater collection and treatment, ground-breaking recycled water programs, and environmentally sound urban runoff treatment to more than 380,000 residents. Learn more about our events and programs at our website.

We want to help you have a water-efficient landscape and save water - we do so by encouraging the use of:
• The Right Plants - Learn how to select a variety of climate appropriate plants suited for your landscape from California native to non-native drought tolerant plants.
• The Right Equipment - Learn about rainwater harvesting and water efficient irrigation components which can aid you in watering your landscape in the most efficient manner.
• The Right Schedule - Implement proper watering practices as the seasons change for different plant types and learn how to build a living soil for a healthy garden.
