What we’re about
Welcome to the Island Mountain Ramblers’ private Meetup!
We are a hiking and mountaineering club of amateur outdoor enthusiasts who build community by sharing our passion for wild places. Our trips help members explore new terrain, step outside their comfort zones, and connect with others who love the outdoors.
- All trips on our schedule are personal trips shared by members. Our leaders are not guides—just fellow hikers and climbers who volunteer to organize club adventures.
- Looking for details about how to join a trip or understand what we expect of participants? Please see our Guidelines for Trip Participants.
- Interested in organizing trips and sharing your adventures with the club? Check out our Guidelines for Leaders.
Reminders:
- Send your emergency contact details to the trip organizer when the trip is a week out.
- Checked the event regularly; often, organizers post updates.
- The club has a library of equipment and books to lend to members

Guests:
This members-only Meetup does not permit non-member accounts. However, guests may attend select trips as a courtesy to our leaders and members who wish to bring a friend to try the club. If you’re interested in brining a guest, please have your member friend contact the trip leader to see if space is available.
The purposes of the Island Mountain Ramblers are:

• to explore the backcountry areas of Vancouver Island and document the club’s experiences in these places.
• to provide formal and informal opportunities for members to acquire skills in hiking, mountaineering, leadership, wilderness survival and outdoor awareness.
• to promote informal social gatherings.
• to promote healthy lifestyles and appreciation of the outdoors.
• to promote cooperation with complementary organizations.
