IT Girls Nashville

I.T Girls are getting back out on the water! Join us Sunday, September 20th for a slow, relaxing float down the Harpeth River with Foggy Bottom Canoe & Kayak.

No experience needed. This is a beginner-friendly paddle, not a workout, and we'll make sure newcomers are set up with more experienced paddlers.

We'll meet at Foggy Bottom at 10:00 AM, get our boats and life jackets, and take their shuttle to the river. Plan for the morning and early afternoon.

The event itself is free. You pay for your rental directly to Foggy Bottom when you arrive and sign their waiver on-site.

❓FAQ

• Will there be food?
  No, please bring water and any snacks you may want. We'll stop for a break along the way.
• How much is renting a kayak?
  $47 per kayak, paid directly to Foggy Bottom when you arrive. Canoes are $57 if two of you want to share a boat. Bringing your own kayak? Also welcome, just check with Foggy Bottom about shuttle space.
• Have I never kayaked before? Do I need experience?
  No experience needed! It's a slow, relaxing float, and we'll pair newcomers with experienced paddlers.
• Do I need to be a good swimmer?
  Life jackets are provided for everyone. Just wear clothes you don't mind getting wet, and water shoes are recommended.
• Can I bring my kid?
  Yes! No separate childcare for this one since we'll all be on the water, but kids are welcome to paddle with us. Foggy Bottom requires kids under 13 to wear a life jacket at all times (they provide them).
• **I'm non-binary, trans, and/or queer. Am I welcomed at this event?**YES! If you've taken a look at our organization and you identify with us, then we welcome you with open arms. Come join our crew.
• I'm a man, can I attend your event?
  We would like to keep our meetups as much for women and women-identifying members as possible, so we ask that you maybe skip this one. BUT we are planning Ally events and an Ally channel in NashDev in the future so that we can include more people in what we're doing. Stay tuned!
• Is the venue ADA accessible?
  Unfortunately, this event isn't ADA accessible. Getting in and out of a kayak makes it difficult to accommodate everyone. That said, we make a point to balance inaccessible events with ones that are, so keep an eye out for our next event, which will be accessible to everyone!
