TO JOIN YOU MUST LIVE IN THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA/WASHINGTON, DC AREA. We are not currently accepting new members because of limited meeting space. Check back in a month or two.
Ciao e benvenuto/a! We are a very active group of Italophiles who wish to improve our proficiency in Italian, and welcome Italian language speakers to join us for conversation practice. We meet in person once per week, on Mondays. Please participate in one or two meetings to see if you like the group before joining. Our members range in conversational proficiency from beginner to native speaker.
We are friendly, patient, and we all help each other. However, it would be useful to know some Italian grammar and be able understand a bit of spoken Italian so that you can follow the conversation of others even if you don't feel comfortable speaking much at first.
There is no program, we just have casual conversations, often in two or more small groups. You may wish to use online tools, such as Duolingo, or take a beginning class in Italian to become familiar with the basics before joining our group.
So come and enjoy a relaxing and rewarding evening with an interesting, diverse group of enthusiastic people.
