And now more about Marco and Caterina:
Marco Lo Verso will speak about his experience studying at L' Università di Firenze. It included a course on the history of the Italian language. The most significant part of this year was when Firenze was flooded - soon after he had arrived - and he became one of the so-called Mud-Angels who rescued and restored the university library's antique and irreplaceable books.
Caterina Edwards will speak on translating and being translated. She will speak on the experience of helping with the translations of both books into Italian. Also, if there is time, she will speak of the difference between being published in Canada and in Italy.
Marco's Bio:
Marco LoVerso was born in Palermo, Italy. After the age of five, he grew up in California, where he completed a B.A. in English (with a minor in Italian) at the University of California, Davis. After emigrating to Canada, he completed an M.A. and a Ph.D. at the University of Alberta. He is now Professor Emeritus of English at Concordia University of Edmonton, where he taught courses in English and American literature for several years.

That is connected to a writing workshop I co-lead. It used to be focused on writing family stories - but we have widened our scope.

There is a page for each of my books, including snippets of reviews.
If you click on About me, you will find a short summary.
Then, you can click on Get to know me for information on my background, studies, and career.
AND at the bottom of the page there are connections to two videos. One was taped at a big deal book festival in Venezia. Shaul Bassi - who was referenced in the Edmonton Journal a couple of weeks ago in an article on his book - Black Venice - interviews Vittorio Longhi (an Eritrean-Italian writer) and me. I read from and speak about the Italian translation of my nonfiction book - Finding Rosa: A Mother with Alzheimer's/ A Daughter in Search of the Past. Italian title - Riscoprendo mia madre: Una figlia alla ricerca del passato.
The other video is much shorter and was made when I was inducted into the City of Edmonton Arts and Culture Walk of Fame.
Ci vediamo.
