A rare and unique event, this is an opportunity to not only immerse yourself in great food, drink, and people who are passionate about Italian language and culture, but it’s a chance to enjoy the 2019 Italian film Pinocchio in a very unique way.
When/Where: Tuesday February 24, 2026 at 6:15PM / Sorrentino’s Little Italy 10844 95 St
Here’s what’s included:
-Film synopsis in Italian by Michael Vecchio; he’s a writer, critic, and published author, graduate of the University of Alberta. A lifelong follower of history, current affairs, and popular culture, he is particularly proud of his Italian Canadian heritage. As co host of the Italian radio program "Ciao Italia Edmonton", he regularly celebrates important cultural milestones that have changed Italy, and the world, in the popular "Musica e Storia" segment. His publications include Stories From History (2025) and Indelible: The Great Films, Shows, and Artists of our Time (2020).
-The screening of Pinocchio (2019, IMDB bbelow); Italian subtitles to challenge learners.
-Eat and drink as much (or as little) as you’d like at one of Edmonton’s most charming restaurants, Sorrentino’s Little Italy. They feature full order pasta for the half order price on Tuesdays.
-Donations (suggested $2-$5/per person) will be accepted, so we can treat Michael to dinner and a glass of wine. Cash only please.
