CI or NE? Mastering Italian Pronouns + Placement (Episodes 16–18)
Details
In this guided online session, we’ll work through Episodes 16, 17, and 18 of the podcast Impariamo l’italiano piano piano, focusing on one of the biggest “next level” topics in Italian: pronouns, and where they go in the sentence.
Together, we’ll look at:
- When to use ci and when to use ne
- How ci can mean “there” but also “about it” depending on the verb
- How ne replaces di + something and how it works with quantities
- How to form combined pronouns like me lo, te la, ce li, glielo
- Where these pronouns go in real sentences: before conjugated verbs, attached to infinitives, and with commands
- Why negative commands can have two correct options (and when they can’t)
The session is structured but relaxed. I’ll guide you through key examples from the episodes, pause for questions, and help you connect the grammar to real Italian usage, so it feels more natural and less like memorizing rules.
### What to do before the meetup
If possible, please listen to Episodes 16, 17, and 18 of the podcast beforehand
(this will help you get the most out of the session)
### What to bring
- Just yourself, curiosity, and your questions
- A notebook is optional, but not required
- If you are a show supporter, grab the study guide to follow along with the exercises.
- Show supporters will find the study guide here on Substack.
### Language
- Italian and English will both be used
- Explanations are in English, with Italian examples throughout
This is not an exam-prep class and not a lecture. It’s a calm, supportive space to slow down, notice patterns, and make Italian make sense piano piano.
