In this guided online session, we’ll work through Episodes 19–23 of the podcast Impariamo l’italiano piano piano, focusing on one of the most expressive structures in Italian: the gerundio.
These meetup sessions follow the grammar topics explored in the podcast Impariamo l’italiano piano piano, where Italian is taught step by step through an ongoing story called Le Pagine del Passato.
If you’ve ever wondered how Italians say things like:
· Camminando
· Pensando
· sto leggendo
this session will help make it clear and usable.
During the meetup we’ll work through the grammar together, looking at examples taken directly from the podcast episodes and exploring how they work in real sentences.
Together we’ll look at:

  • how the gerundio is formed (-ando / -endo)
  • how Italian uses it to describe simultaneous actions
  • how it can express cause or condition
  • how stare + gerundio works to describe actions happening right now
  • where pronouns go in sentences like Lo sto leggendo or Sto leggendolo

The session is structured but relaxed. We’ll pause often for questions and observations as we work through the examples together and connect the grammar to real Italian usage.
What to do before the meetup (optional)
If you’d like a preview of some of the examples we’ll explore, you can listen to the following podcast episodes beforehand:
Episodes 19–23 — Il Gerundio

Many participants enjoy listening first and then using the meetup to practice and clarify what they heard.
Curious how the meetups work?

What to bring
Just yourself, curiosity, and your questions.
A notebook is optional, but not required.
If you are a show supporter, you may wish to download the study guide that accompanies these episodes. Supporters will find the study guide on Substack.
Language
Both Italian and English will be used.
Explanations are in English, with Italian examples throughout.
This is not an exam-prep class and not a lecture. It’s a calm, supportive space where we slow down, notice patterns, and make Italian make sense piano piano.

Ci vediamo!
