•OnlineThe Medici Family: Rise of a Florentine Dynasty – Part I
OnlineREGISTRATION REQUIRED! Click here to register
Step back into the early days of Renaissance Florence and discover how a family of visionary merchants and bankers rose from modest beginnings to become one of the most powerful and influential dynasties in Europe — the Medici.
Through an engaging presentation of slides**,** we’ll explore how their growing influence began to shape Florence’s art, politics, and architecture. You’ll hear about the ambitions, alliances, and vision that laid the foundations for the city’s golden age — an era when faith, wealth, and creativity merged into something extraordinary.
We’ll uncover how Cosimo de’ Medici, known as “the Elder,” built the foundation of the family’s power, not through force, but through intellect, diplomacy, and patronage. By supporting artists and architects like Brunelleschi and Donatello, he transformed Florence into a living workshop of artistic innovation and humanist ideals. His descendants, inspired by his example, continued to nurture talent and knowledge, helping the city flourish as the true cradle of the Renaissance.
From the family’s earliest residences to the monumental Palazzo Medici Riccardi, and from intimate chapels to grand public works, this virtual journey traces the first steps of a dynasty whose story is intertwined with that of Florence itself — a tale of opportunity, creativity, and vision that forever changed the course of history.

•OnlineA royal house in Florence: the Pitti Palace Virtual Tour
OnlineREGISTRATION REQUIRED! Click here to register
Step into the magnificent world of Palazzo Pitti, one of Florence’s most impressive landmarks and the grand residence of the Medici family, whose vision and influence shaped much of the city’s cultural and political life. Nestled just across the Arno River, this monumental palace rises with quiet majesty in the heart of the Oltrarno district, framed by the lush Boboli Gardens — a timeless expression of Renaissance elegance and ambition.
Originally built in the 15th century for the wealthy Pitti family, the palace was later purchased by Eleanor of Toledo, wife of Cosimo I de’ Medici, who transformed it into the official residence of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. From that moment, Palazzo Pitti became the stage upon which the Medici displayed their wealth, taste, and artistic patronage — a setting that rivaled the grandest royal courts of Europe.
Through a captivating virtual tour with slides, we’ll journey through opulent halls, frescoed galleries, and private chambers that reveal centuries of power and refinement. Our guide will bring to life the stories, art, and architecture that made this palace a true masterpiece of the Renaissance.
To complete our exploration, we’ll also visit the Royal Apartments of the House of Savoy, the final royal chapter in the history of Palazzo Pitti — a place where the legacy of the Medici met the grandeur of Italy’s new monarchy.
