Details
HEALTH AND SAFETY IS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY!
Pennsylvania is in the Yellow phase and we are allowed to do group gatherings up to 25 people but due to parking restrictions I'm limiting this hike to 20. And as usual, since we are capping this event, NO SHOWS will be removed from the group - so don't RSVP if you aren't going to make an effort to show up.
No...I'm not making anyone wear a mask (I won't be)
No...I'm not telling people to stay 6ft+ apart; but please try to
you do what you feel safe doing
and please do not come if you are feeling sick in anyway
Please meet me in the Trexler Nature Reserve parking lot at 9:45 so that we can start the hike at 10. Try to park in the first one (the one closest to the road. If you get lost please send me a message. There should be cell reception in this park.
The Trail features nice variable terrain, variable vegetation, nice views, a river, and a bison farm. It is rated as moderate but if you are not used to hiking 9 miles then it will be difficult for you. We should be able to swim in the river by then.
There will be a lot of single-tracks on which we will encounter other hikers and mountain bikers going the opposite way. Suggest you then step to the side and turn your head away from the trail and hold your elbow to your mouth. This has worked for me last few months while hiking.
Interesting info about General Trexler can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Clay_Trexler
Please bring plenty of water, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, snacks, a hat to protect against the sun, towel and swim wear.
Will go to Cave Brewing Company (@cavebrewing) in Bethlehem afterwards if they have an outdoor tent and are serving beer by then.
