Glen Foerd Riverfest & Exciting New Races!

I'm working with our member Gerry who is affiliated with the Regatta.

RACES:
Come join us for the 2025 Glen Foerd Riverfest taking place between 3:00PM and 7:00PM on Sunday July 13 th.
See the website below for event details.
This year Riverfest will inaugurate races on the Delaware River at the border of Philadelphia and Bucks County. Competitors will compete one-on-one, on paddleboards (CLC Kaholo - 12’ 6” x 29 ¾” width),
kayaks (NC 15 - 15’ 8” x 23” width) and
catamaran rowers (Flex 20 – 20’ x 36” width).
All events are exhibitions demonstrating a same-boat, short-track format. Racing crafts will be provided for competitors. No
need to bring your own. If you have a favorite paddle and a personal floatation device, bring it.
The course is ½ mile upstream starting below the black dog at Glen Foerd Mansion and back, restarting at the Mud Island Pier. Times will be tallied after the second leg back at Glen Foerd, and the winner announced. If you are interested in entering register at
www.glenfoerd.org/event/2025/7/13/riverfest. Send a note to Rob DiTomasso (rditomasso@glenfoerd.org) indicating the watercraft you would like to race. Watercraft can be tried out on Saturday July 12 or earlier on July 13 th . Contact Gerry Henwood (gerryhenwood@gmail) with racing questions, pictures of the watercraft, or for information about trying out the equipment.
The launch dock is located off the stairs below the house where the Poquessing Creek meets the river, about 150 yards from the race starting line. Rowing machines will be set up for pre-race warm-up. We’ll do our best to run races every half hour. The race craft are fast, but wider than typical racing types, for better athlete stability. You
don’t have to be in tip-top shape to race, just a desire to have fun with a new racing format. Glen Foerd waivers required and available on race day. There is no athlete entry fee. There’s potential that these races will be an annual tradition. You can say that you competed at the very first.

FREE RENTALS "BORROWING"
For those that just want to watch but not race, you can also borrow a SUP or kayak for free and paddle around to watch the races
more information: https://www.glenfoerd.org/events/2025/7/13/riverfest

There’s a separate event to bring your own SUP or kayak to, to RSVP for that, go here: https://www.meetup.com/its-better-outdoors/events/308255882/
