PLEASE READ ALL THE DETAILS - it's complicated

RAIN OR SHINE
event is free but NO SHOWS will be removed from the group - so know your plans

I'm not spelling the location out because I don't want this to come up in a google search by accident - so you'll need to type in the address in to your google map

We are going to paddle to Burlingt0n Islnd from the Burlingt0n boat ramp at 449 E Pearl St Burlingt0n - you'll need your own paddleboard or kayak, no rentals available, no other way to get to the island

And then we're going to camp on the island for the night or weekend (it's up to you how long you stay) - so this is like backpacking...there are no facilities or running water, you need to carry in everything you'll need for a night or two* - food, drinks, music (yes, we're going to have a good time), toilet paper, etc
There is a fresh water lake in the middle of the island that we will be camping on so we can use that to filter water from (make sure you have water filtration)

Departure from Burlingt0n boat ramp - meet at 12, paddling by 12:45
*parking* - drop your stuff at the boat ramp but don't park there - there's no overnight parking there - park in the playground lot next door on the other side of the basketball court, or on another side street
*If you know where to go you can arrive after we do and still join us...up to about 3pm parking time, after that the tide will be too low to get to the landing spot on the island easily

The paddle will take us about 25-30 min, it's only about a mile or so from the dock, but there could be wind and some waves to slow us down
speaking of wind and waves...make sure to keep everything dry! dry bags, double trash bags, etc...water will splash onto your paddleboard and kayak so you need to make sure your stuff is secured and protected

Packing: imaging you are backpacking but you have to keep it dry and fit it on a paddleboard or kayak - but that also means you can try to bring a small cooler, too (I'll bring the speaker, don't worry about that haha)

The paddle shouldn't be that hard and you could do 2 trips if you want, or just go back to your car Saturday to resupply

Once we get to the landing spot, you'll have to pull your SUP/kayak out of the water and up over the hump and into the lake and then paddle to the campsite a short distance away

And then it's just campfire, beverages and music for the night - remember, we don't go to bed early so don't set up near the fire if you aren't going to be up as late as the rest of us
There's tons of space so no limit to the number of people or tents

Saturday's arrival/departure tidal window is:
11am - 5:30pm
that means you can leave or join us Saturday, anytime after 11am up to about 4:30pm
before or after those times, the tide will be too low and it will not be easy to get on/off the island from our landing spot

I've planned this trip around the tidal schedule, if you'd like to check my times and tides, you can find them here: https://tides.willyweather.com/nj/burlington-county/delaware-river--burlington-island.html
Optimal arrival times are between 10am and 4pm so you'll want to be on the island for the night as of 4pm
(yes, you can arrive after 12 and still join us)

No guests allowed, all attendees must be IBO members
if you'd like to bring someone, just have them join the group, it's free
I want to make sure everyone has all the details

LEAVE NO TRACE - reminder that whatever you bring with you to the island leaves with you - trash and all
