Hi all! Sorry for the delay on this. You know I HATE to cancel events but I think in the interest of safety we'll cancel tonight. I know there are flood and tornado watches out there now so we're not going to take any chances.

For those that paid to rent, please message me about what you want to do with your money. I can refund you or hold it if you think you'll try again on Monday Aug 31.

Moonlight paddling on the Schuylkill River in Center City Philly is back!
moonrise is 2pm, sunset is 8:24pm

Those that said they wanted to rent but haven’t paid yet will be put on a waitlist
If you can mo longer go, please change your RSVP to no

We'll paddle south on the river for a little while, then turn around and paddle north towards the Fairmount Dam in time to catch the sunset
then float back to the dock while we enjoy watching the moon over the lights of the city

We have 20 rental kayaks available and those that have their own kayak or paddleboards are welcome to join us.

EVERYONE must tell me if you are a renter or will BYO when you RSVP

rental kayaks:
$28 each for the night - but you must be able to help get them into the water from the shed - if you are not able to help carry a kayak about 50 feet, then you shouldn't come
("help carry" as in there'll be 2 people to carry a kayak, not doing it by your self)
Only single kayaks available (no tandems)

first 20 to pay get a kayak, after that, it's waitlist only
the $28 is refundable for any reason until July 15, after that only if someone takes your spot
ONLY PAYMENT WILL SECURE YOU A RENTAL KAYAK - it doesn't matter when you RSVP, if you don't pay, you don't get a kayak, this event WILL fill up
and if you end up on the waitlist, please make sure to check your meetup emails the day before and the day of the event regularly
life jackets are included but you need your own headlamp

That means you can't drop out the day of the event and get a refund because of weather, but speaking of weather...
EVENT WILL BE CANCELLED AND REFUNDS GIVEN IF IT IS RAINING
*it's not always clear if it will rain or not so if the weather is questionable, a decision will be made by 3 or 4pm whether we go or not - if the event is a GO and you decide not to come, you don't get a refund
- we'll try to make the safest decision we can without losing the opportunity to paddle

If you can't get into this event because it is full, there should be another one on Aug 31

BYO: yes, you can join us if you have your own kayak or paddleboard PLEASE NOTE: there is no direct water access from any road to the Walnut street dock - you have 2 choices:
1 Carry your SUP/kayak down from Walnut street down the 3 flights of steps (inflatables: you can inflate at the car and bring it down ready to go, or inflate dockside and just bring the pump with you on the water)
or
2 Park on Locust Street and carry your SUP/kayak about 2 blocks across the railroad tracks to the dock
If you BYO, the event is free - the $28 is only for the renters
but if you didn't read this first and send me money, thanks for the donation ;)

We'll meet at 7 and be paddling on the water by 7:30 - if you are late, just catch up to us

We'll be on the water until about 9:30pm and then take the kayaks out
If you have your own you can stay out later if you like

BYO drinks and snacks: we'll be hanging out on the water near the dam for a while, until the sunsets so feel free to BYO beverages and snacks while we wait

Parking - best option is on Walnut street bridge or some other side street near there
