Perkin's Memories

Details

I turned off alerts from MeetUp because I got to many. That means if you have a question or comment THE ONLY WAY TO REACH ME IS TO CALL/TEXT THE DUDEISTJON HELP LINE AT 513-99-HAPPY

Come hang out at the Mason Perkins, the one near Kings Island. This is not just any Perkins. This is the building that refuses to quit. It was a Perkins, then it died. Then it rose again as a Frisch's, which also died. Then it came back to life as a Perkins once more. If this restaurant were a person, it would be in therapy and definitely writing a memoir.

To be clear, I worked at none of these incarnations. I cannot be blamed for any of the business failures or breakfast decisions made within those walls.

Back when I first went to college, I worked two jobs. One of them was the overnight shift at the Perkins in Milford. While normal people slept, I was serving pancakes to night owls, hungover philosophers, and people having emotional breakdowns over pie.

Perkins was also where my friends and I hung out. If it had not been for a random stop at a Perkins on the way to Lexington, I probably would have been arrested for a plan involving the rescue of several racehorses. It made sense at the time. There was a Jeep with a hook on the bumper. There was stoner outrage. What there was not, was an escape plane.

So join us for breakfast. Come hungry for food, conversation, and at least one story that ends with "and that is why I am not legally allowed to own bolt cutters." No agenda. No pressure. Just some seats, some coffee, and maybe a small chance to make slightly better decisions than we did in our twenties.

We will be at the table with the most laughter and the least sense of time.
