Local Variety Co. presents the Local Variety Comedy Showcase — a brand new monthly stand-up comedy event hosted in The Taproom at Urbanrest Brewing Company in Ferndale, MI.
(The meetup RSVP count is not indicative of actual attendance. This event is often at or near capacity.)
First time attending? Great! The Local Variety Show is open to new attendees from Meetup.Each show features a sharp lineup of regional comedians in an intimate space, complete with barrels, string lights, and good energy. We’re here to celebrate local talent and build community through comedy.
Blain Hill is a comedian, writer, and podcaster from Detroit. A mainstay of the Detroit comedy scene for more than a decade, Blain has entertained audiences all across the country with his sharp, original writing and deadpan delivery. Blain is a regular performer at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase, and The Detroit House Of Comedy and has shared the stage with greats like Barry Crimmins, Jimmy Pardo, and Sam Morril.

Join us for some chill online games on Ludio! We run the best game nights ever :D Ludio (https://ludio.gg) is a videoconferencing platform with games built directly into it.
We play all sorts of card games, word games, drawing games, bluffing games, trivia games, party games, and more - all of them are easy to learn, quick to play, and very social. We have a team of experienced hosts who will teach you all the games - and keep the event fun and safe!
There is no need to learn any of the games we play beforehand, but if you're curious, you can find the full list of games and tutorials on https://try.ludio.gg. In the past we've played a lot of Pitfall, Piranha, Fishbowl, and Caption Contraption.
We have 100 Meetup groups and most of our regulars don’t RSVP anymore. RSVPs are not indicative of how many people will show up - we get a consistent turnout of 10+ people.

- If it's your first time using Ludio, we encourage you to hop on the call 10 minutes early so we can get you set up!

Join us for some Bar Trivia on Ludio! We run the best Trivia nights ever :D Ludio (https://ludio.gg) is a videoconferencing platform with games built directly into it.
Our Bar Trivia features 3 categories which change every week, and get voted on by the community between the events - join our Discord (https://discord.gg/baPBbgQgBH) to see the categories for this week. Teams are 2-4 people; you can bring your own team or make one on the spot with other people who are looking. The game takes about 45-60 minutes; after the Trivia is over, we keep playing other lighthearted games with whoever sticks around.

Discover the awe-inspiring journey to Machu Picchu with our three distinct options, each offering its own charm and adventure. As a Meetup, we travel as a group and still are able to tailor your Machu Picchu adventure according to your preferences and interests.
This event is for the hikers and trekkers, interested in The Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. This is a 4-Day hike on the ancient and remote footpath located in the same region as the Inca Trail where massive snow-capped mountains collide with lush tropical rainforests. It is less travelled than the Inca Trail, with breathtaking vistas! Considered by many the better alternate to get to Machu Picchu. It is also not that heavily regulated with government taxes and fees. Hence, the good price!
The Inca Trail is the "tourist" route. We are doing the 1-day hike, which is the second half of the classic Inca Trek and a full day at Machu Picchu. It is shorter and less difficult than the Salkantay. The views are stunning - mostly rainforest canopy and ancient historic sights. Those who are interested in this way to reach Machu Picchu, CLICK HERE to find the event.
The Train is just as it sounds. No long hike. Travel by rail and with less effort. This is intended for people with less mobility or those who wish to glamp it a bit. They will be traveling with the Inca Trail group, but instead of hiking for one full day, can opt for the convenience of the train ride. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO
