#78 IXDA SVG Meetup: New hospital in Stavanger
Details
Go behind the scenes of Stavanger's biggest move Join us for an evening of honest storytelling from the frontlines of one of Norway's most complex healthcare transformation projects. For years, a dedicated team has worked alongside Stavanger University Hospital to prepare around 8,000 staff for a new hospital and shared operations, a process of training, culture change, and coordination at a scale few organizations ever face.
On the day of the move, 250 patients were transferred as Nye SUS officially opened. In this session, you'll hear directly from the people who lived it: the frustrations, the breakthroughs, the missteps, and what it actually takes to design and deliver change at that scale. We're joined by Oda Langfeldt-Omre, project manager for the training project at Stavanger University Hospital, and Trond Dagsland from Canoe.
Trond Dagsland is a co-founder of Canoe and a service designer with 15 years of experience designing products, services and organisations for public and private clients. He combines passionate user experience design with transformation and behaviour change, drawing on his background as a trained musician and actor to lead learning and cultural development initiatives. Trond has held leadership roles as Regional Director at EGGS Design and CEO at Canoe, working across health, public sector, mobility, energy and larger cultural institutions such as theatres and museums. Trond has been involved in the Nye SUS project since its early stages, working alongside Comte Bureau and SUS to prepare staff and organisation for one of Norway’s most demanding operational transitions.
Oda Langfeldt-Omre is a project manager in organisational development at Stavanger University Hospital. She has had a central role in the Nye SUS project, coordinating 157 training days with over 11,000 participants from September 2024 through the move-in in November 2025 — helping prepare around 8,000 staff for the opening through one of the largest and most complex change processes in Norwegian healthcare history.
