Web Components SF Meetup

Details
ABOUT
Web Components SF is a meetup to connect web developers working with web components and related platform features, libraries, and tools. Speakers will share tips and knowledge from across the ecosystem.
Join us for the inaugural meetup to learn what’s new from the Google team that helped drive the standards effort. We’ll share updates on web standards, LitElement, lit-html, and Material Design components; take a deep-dive into styling components; and hear from Salesforce about why they chose Web Components for the foundation of their next-generation development stack.
SPEAKERS
- Matthew McNulty, Polymer Project, Google
These are exciting times for Web Components! Matt McNulty, founding member and original manager of the Polymer Project, will kick off the inaugural Web Components SF meetup with some reflections on how far we’ve come, and a look at the road ahead.
- Diego Ferreiro, Salesforce
With with Lightning Web Components, Salesforce has embraced Web Components as the foundation for their application platform. In this talk, Diego Ferreiro Val will walk you through some of the challenges and lessons that Salesforce has learned while applying Web Components at enterprise scale. He’ll also discuss some of the latest proposals to extend the Web Component APIs – especially geared towards Salesforce/Enterprise use cases – and how they may affect the future of the Web.
- Justin Fagnani, Polymer Project, Google
Justin Fagnani, a long-time Polymer Project team member, will talk all about styling and theming web components. This is a critical topic for anyone building reusable web components.
Starting with how to think about styling and theming in a world with native style isolation, he'll cover a number of techniques and styling features – from current workhorses like CSS variables, to new features like Constructible Stylesheets and ::part(), to upcoming proposals like ::theme() and CSS modules.
- Q&A Panel
We'll have members of the Polymer Project and Salesforce teams answer questions from the audience. And of course, they'll be around before and after the talks as well!
