Hike the GTM Reserve AGAIN in 2025!!!! This time longer...

WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS LONGER THAN THE LAST TIME....Hopefully 10 miles. So, if you are going on this hike, just want to set the expectations. You are going to walk a lot.

Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve....GTM Reserve...Hike. Very pleasant walk. Between Jax and St Aug. There is a $3 parking fee on the honor system. The rangers do walk around and check for receipts so please pay the fee. (Exempt if you have a state park pass.)

After you enter, park and proceed past the bridge and back parking lot and a little further up is a shelter where the restrooms are. If you can park in the back lot, then you are closer to this. The parking can get a little busy quickly so allow for some time to park and walk to the shelter. There are restrooms.....hopefully they are functional. Last time people met in the parking lot but please proceed to the shelter to meet.

We'll combine purple and red and yellow and orange and make this a longer hike. At one point, we hope to hike out onto the small beach and back. There will be turning points where you can make this a shorter hike to suit your needs but you will have to break from the group and loop around on your own. It can be a little muddy so wear appropriate attire. You can also look out over the water in the reserve at one point if you want. I can't give you a history like our other great coordinators so if anyone knows of the history, feel free to take that over on the hike!!!

Bring bug spray, water, and possibly a snack or a packed lunch. If everyone wants, we can go to lunch after.
