Jakarta Tech Talk - Combating the struggles of cloud-native developers - Are IDPs the answer?
In this session, we’ll explore the tools and technologies that could help us better equip ourselves for the struggles of the modern cloud-native Java developer and analyses what the future of this development may look like. We’ll focus on Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) as one of these tools and consider whether they can truly help to combat our modern cloud-native development struggles. We’ll first explore what these struggles are and how they’re affecting our efficacy in application development, followed by an introduction to IDPs, platforms available and how to use them. We’ll also have a live demo of how to utilise an IDP (e.g. Red Hat Developer Hub) to effectively combat some of these struggles for cloud-native Java developers. This demo will utilise an application that is based on Jakarta EE technologies and other OSS Java technologies, e.g. MicroProfile and Open Liberty. This session will provide a great introduction to what an IDP is, what tools there are available and how to make use of it in their own applications.
