See all- June 22, 9 AM - Three Lakes, the Carillon and the Pump House HikeMaymont Sundial, Richmond, VA
This 4.4 mile hike begins at the Maymont Sundial on Hampton Street. (Yeah, I never heard of it either until I passed it one day on a hike!)
Once we get organized we will visit the Maymont Nature Center then stroll around Shields Lake, Swan Lake and Fountain Lake, the three lakes of Byrd Park. We will make our way to the Carillon after pausing beside Fountain Lake for the obligatory group photo (See above). After the Carillon we will visit the Pump House after which we will take the North bank Trail back to Hampton Street. This is a hike over improved, paved surfaces for the most part, but some rock hopping, root and stone dodging and giving a wide berth to toxic plants (Don't touch anything green!) will be required! Hikes begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us. If you need help with directions, click on the inset map in the event description under "How to find us" to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" (upper left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated. Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking. While your event host is providing a framework for your Meet Up hiking experience, you are responsible for your own safety and well-being.
