Jul 3, 9 AM - Legends Brewery to Reedy Creek Landing

Details
The train's no longer running over to Belle Isle but a pedestrian bridge has been built on the supports of this old bridge. We will begin and end our 4.75 mile hike at Legends Brewery, 321 W 7th Street. Heading west from Legends on Buttermilk Trail East, to the 22nd Street Park Entrance and the beginning of the Buttermilk Trail. We'll pass the landmark that gave this trail its name and continue west on Buttermilk to Reedy Creek Landing where we will take a brief rest stop then begin our return to civilization on the Reedy Creek Trail, gaining access to Belle Isle via the pedestrian bridge that once was a railroad bridge (see photo). Crossing Belle Isle, we'll make our way to Brown's Island by way of Tredegar Street, and once more cross the river on the Potterfield Bridge, which evokes images of the Evacuation Route of 1865. (We are at the four mile mark at the mid-point of the Potterfield Bridge!) Then we'll finish off our hike at the Manchester Overlook and return to our starting point on West 7th Street.
- This is a hike of approximately 4.75 miles over developed urban pavement, dirt and gravel trails, ladders and stairways. As with all JRH hikes, this hike will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you need help on directions, click on the inset map (under "How to find us") to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" (on the left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot at 321 W 7th Street will be calculated for you.
- Participants should be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 miles per hour and possess the ability to negotiate rocks, roots, low hanging branches, vines, uncertain footing on hills, uneven sidewalks, cobble stone streets, and bridges, and recognize toxic plants in season.
