Sep 28, 9 AM ~ Museum District Murals Hike

Details
This is a shorter hike than usual, but in a short distance we will observe thirty-one murals! We will meet in front of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture (next door to the VMFA) and take a hike around this historic area of Richmond. Along the way we'll gaze at some of the many murals that adorn what would otherwise be undecorated building walls. This 3.0 mile excursion will take us along Park, Sheppard, Belmont, Cleveland, and West Cary, as well as others, as we discover some of the diverse outdoor art works that are sometimes tucked away in the most unusual places. Most of the murals have some context about the subject and the artist so this can be educational as well as entertaining!
For more information on the murals as well as their locations click here.
All hikes will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us. Click on the small map found under "How to find us" in the Event Description to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" (on the left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated. Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking.
There is no requirement to possess some ability to negotiate tree roots, rustic trails, low hanging vines and branches, toxic plants, culverts, reptiles, damp trail conditions, stairs, spider webs, fallen trees, scorpions, birds of prey, migratory waterfowl, and river rocks today as this hike will be entirely on paved streets and sidewalks.
