Sep 21, 9 AM ~ Hike from Chimborazo Park to Oakwood Cemetery

This is a 4 mile hike through some of Richmond's oldest neighborhoods where many of the homes predate the Unpleasantries of the 1860's. We will follow 31st Street north to Nine Mile Road and enter Oakwood Cemetery. We will pass through the New and the Old sections of the cemetery then take Oakwood Boulevard, P Street and 37th Street to Shockoe Bottom. There we will locate a forest trail hat will return us to Chimborazo Park past the Dg Park and a spring that has been in operation since 1895.
This is a hike over relatively flat terrain that should take approximately two hours & forty-five minutes to complete! Some ability to negotiate tree roots, rustic trails, low hanging vines, toxic plants, reptiles, damp trail conditions, spider webs, fallen trees, and scorpions is desirable, though not required.
All hikes begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you will not be left behind. Click on the small map found under "How to find us" in the Event Description to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" (upper left) a detailed route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be provided for you. Before the hike be sure to take a minute and place everything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while hiking.
Be sure to hydrate before, during and after the hike. The combination of temperature and humidity in Richmond in the summertime can sneak up on you!
