Have you ever wondered how miso is made—or why there are so many different kinds of miso?
Join us for a fun, hands-on workshop where we’ll explore the world of Japanese miso through tasting, making, and conversation.
This is more than just a cooking class. We’ll learn a little about Japanese miso culture and fermentation, taste different varieties of miso, and make our own miso to take home and age.

## What we'll do

🥢 Explore 8+ different types of miso
You’ll have a chance to compare different varieties and choose 3 types to taste with freshly made dashi.

🫘 Make your own miso
You’ll make approximately 1.5 kg of miso to take home and ferment and age at home.
We’ll use simple ingredients:
soybeans, rice koji, salt, and water—with no unnecessary additives.

🫙 Learn about fermentation
We’ll talk about koji, how miso changes during fermentation and aging, and why good miso takes time.

🤎 Meet fellow food & fermentation lovers
This is a friendly, interactive workshop. Come on your own or with a friend, get your hands into the process, and meet others who are interested in Japanese food, fermentation, and traditional food culture.

## A little something to look forward to...

Miso takes time—and that’s part of the fun!
We’re planning to reconnect about 5 months after the workshop to open our miso together, taste how it has developed, and enjoy some miso cooking.
You’ll start the journey together and then come back to see how everyone's miso has changed.
