Am Vorabend des Treffens des Executive Committee (EC) des Java Community Process (JCP) bei SAP in Walldorf gibt es ein Get-together mit zwei Vorträgen und der Gelegenheit zum Austausch mit Mitgliedern des Executive Committees.
Das EC ist das zentrale Entscheidungsgremium für die Standardisierung und Weiterentwicklung der Java-Plattform. Seine Mitglieder repräsentieren Unternehmen, Organisationen, Java User Groups und Einzelpersonen aus der internationalen Java-Community.

## Offizielle Einladung

Join us for an introduction to the JCP Executive Committee and its role in shaping the future of Java. The session will explore how developers, architects, Java user groups and the wider community can contribute to the evolution of the platform.
We will discuss current developments, including Value Objects and Project Valhalla, as well as the evolution of the Java platform and ecosystem for AI/ML. The meet-up will also provide an opportunity to connect with JCP EC members, Java Champions and representatives from international JUGs and companies.

## Valhalla, Now! (Nicolai Parlog)

No OpenJDK project has excited Java developers as much as Valhalla. And no other has strung us along for that long. But now the wait is over!
Value types are the first step to mending the rift in Java’s type system and allow us to create identity-less, more primitive-like classes. They will likely preview for the first time in JDK 28, so it’s time to take a close look at:

• syntax and semantics of value types
• limitations and capabilities
• performance characteristics
• the next steps Valhalla is planning to take

After this talk, you’ll know what value types can do in JDK 28 - and what they can’t. And the latter is just as important because the trek to Valhalla is still long and value types are neither intended nor capable to fulfill all expectations we may have for the project at large.

## Java for AI (Zoran Sevarac)

Discover how the latest and upcoming Java platform innovations are removing traditional performance barriers for AI and machine learning workloads on the JVM.
Recent advances in the Foreign Function and Memory (FFM) API and Vector API, together with the upcoming Project Valhalla features, are enabling Java applications to work with efficient memory layouts and hardware-accelerated operations required for demanding numerical and AI/ML workloads. Project Babylon is further exploring Java-native approaches to GPU programming and heterogeneous computing.
Learn how these technologies work, what they mean for the future of Java-based AI, and how to apply them to real-world applications. By leveraging modern JVM capabilities and hardware acceleration, Java applications can achieve substantial performance improvements - potentially by an order of magnitude for suitable workloads.
The session will also introduce the activities of the JCP Executive Committee and the Java and AI Working Group, including opportunities for the Java community to participate in shaping the emerging Java AI ecosystem.
