This week we are going to look at a native Quantitative Finance library written in Rust. And the lessons learned in making a pull request to it.

Anyone new to a programming language tends to make some open source contributions. This process can be complex with tool setups, conventions, debugging, making tests, structuring code, etc. So we are going to reflect on a recent open source Rust contribution to uncover lessons learned.

⚠️ New to rust? Arrive early (5:45pm) for setup help.

⏰ Schedule:

  • 18:00-18:30: Networking with refreshments (join other tech communities)
  • 18:30-20:00: Main session

🎯 Who should attend:

  • Those who attended our previous sessions
  • Developers with basic Rust setup who want to know more about contributing
  • Anyone curious about Rust
  • Programmers from other languages wanting to see what makes Rust special

📋 What to bring:

  • Your laptop with Rust installed (we can help if needed)
  • Questions from your own coding experiments
  • Experience with other languages (we love comparisons!)

This is a great for anyone wanting to get their feet wet with Rust contributions!

Looking forward to seeing returning Rustaceans and welcoming new faces! 🦀
