Connect Bern is a community that runs real events you'll actually want to go to: language exchanges 🗣️, shared dinners 🍝, hikes 🥾, board-game nights 🎲, and more. Every one is shaped around what people here genuinely feel like doing, and run by locals, in a relaxed setting where turning up on your own is completely normal and starting a conversation is easy.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film & Book Group
Location not specified yetOlivia runs this one and hosts it at her own place. She has been doing it since early 2025.
They watch science fiction and fantasy films and series in the original English and talk about them afterwards, and they read books together too. The next evening is an X-Men '97 marathon. There is no fixed schedule: over the last year and a half it has landed roughly every six to eight weeks, and this is the only date she has published so far.
She hosts at home, now just outside the city in Wabern, so message her a few days ahead for the address and directions. Space is limited. She publishes no price.
Meeting people is easy. Seeing them again is the hard part. That's the part we work on.

Lichtspiel-Sonntag
Lichtspiel / Kinemathek Bern, Sandrainstrasse 3, Bern, CHWeekly short-film programme from the Lichtspiel / Kinemathek Bern archive. Each week is a single analogue short reel, shown as a surprise programme, screened in the hall and live-streamed at the same time. The bar opens at 19:00, a full hour before the film at 20:00, so come at bar-opening if you want to talk to people beforehand. Entry is a collection with a suggested price, 30 percent off with a KulturLegi.

Trilingual Silent Book Club at Caffè Bar Sempre
Caffè Bar Sempre Berna, Schwarztorstrasse 102, Bern, CHA Bern meetup group runs this book club. Bring whatever you are already reading, in German, French or English.
The first stretch is silent. Everybody sits at the same table and reads their own book, which is the whole trick, because it is far easier to get into a book in a room where nobody is going to interrupt you. Afterwards people say what they are reading and whether it is any good, in whichever of the three languages they feel like using.
Free, and you buy your own coffee.
