A monthly Lindy Hop social in the vaulted cellar of ONO in Bern's old town, with DJ Tom on the decks. The organisers describe the setting as "ein besonderes Erlebnis, wo Musik, Ambiente und Tanz zur untrennbaren Einheit verschmelzen" - a special experience where music, atmosphere and dance melt into one - an evening that went from insider tip to cult event, and the best place to see off the old week and ease into the new one. Lindy Hop is a dynamic, down-to-earth partner dance from 1930s America, first danced in Harlem to big band swing, and the forerunner of Boogie Woogie and Jitterbug. It is explicitly a come-as-you-are social rather than a class: "in dem Freude wichtiger ist als Koennen" - joy matters more than skill - and in the dialogue with your partner and the music there are no limits on creativity and improvisation. It runs at ONO usually on the third Sunday of the month from 20:00 to 23:00. Entry is cash at the door.
