The famous VIKING WAY and a SWIM

Join our delightful, wonderful, skills-full Wendy, Wendington Bear or The Wend as I like to call her on a beautiful coastal hike in the foot steps of the Vikings AND the Romans.
The Isle of Thanet, once an Island in Roman times protected by a Roman defence fortress, whose remains are still visible today, is now connected to the rest of Britain and has become today a beautiful shoreline with sandy beaches, nature reserves, clifftops, middle ages ruins and the ruins of a Roman Fort at Reculver.

The hike is not a difficult one, it is a perfect one for Wendy's shorter walks and a lovely day by the sea so that more people, who might be less able can join, you will still be burning those calories though as it is roughly 9 miles. It will be mostly flat with one short climb on the cliff top after lunch. It is a stunning place It will take us around four hours and we will stop on the beach at Herne Bay for a well deserved swim if weather allows before finishing, for those who wish, at a delicious Turkish restaurant.🙃😋

About £25 in cash on the day or via bank transfer for the return train journey that we will buy together with a group discount of 35%.

Our trips will not be cancelled due to weather conditions so please ensure that you do wear and carry appropriate clothing. 😄

POLICIES:
1: This group is designed for the pleasure and enjoyment of all of us, we do not accept any derogatory comments or behaviours towards anyone. Racism, discrimination and other unacceptable behaviours will only lead to your rejection of any of our trips and this is without exception at any stage of the trip, if during the trip, you will be left in the nearest village/town and will be reported to Meetup. Everyone is welcome, we have religious and non-religious people, gay, straight, bisexual people, all shades and colours or nationalities, people of all ages, sex and political beliefs and mutual respect is the fundamental spirit of this group.
2: Our trips are only refundable up to 14 days before departure, if you wish to cancel after that, you will be offered a transfer to another trip for the same price or you may resell your slot to somebody else.
3: If we do cancel the entirety of the trip on our site, you will be fully refunded.
4:In the eventuality that our trains are delayed, or cancelled which is out of my control, I do not pay for taxis or alternative route, if this happens, you will be able to claim delay repay from the train companies who will reimburse your train ticket and some eventual costs occurred.
